Life Coaching or Mental Health Counseling?

Different Services For Different Needs.

Melanie’s background in both coaching and counseling helps bring more clarity to that distinction while keeping each service within its appropriate scope.

EVOLVE

Coaching vs. Counseling

READY. SET. GROW.

TAKING ACTION

Life Coaching

Coaching is generally focused on goals, clarity, decisions, accountability, values, and creating forward movement.

Clinical support

Mental Health Counseling

Counseling addresses emotional distress and regulation, mental health symptoms, and cognitive and behavioral change, through therapeutic assessment and treatment planning.

Why Melanie's background matters

Sometimes the goal is not the whole story.

Melanie’s mental health training helps her notice when presenting concerns may fall outside the scope of coaching and when counseling or another level of care may be indicated. It means the coaching relationship is informed by a professional understanding of mental health and scope.

Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions and is not a substitute for therapy, psychiatric care, crisis services, or other appropriate clinical treatment.

Common questions

Do I have to decide on my services before contacting Evolve?

No. A clarity call can help you talk through what brings you here and whether coaching appears appropriate or whether counseling or another type of support may make more sense.

The Role of Insurance

Life coaching is not a clinical service covered by insurance and therefore is self-pay.

Mental health counseling is a clinical service covered as a mental health benefit. EVOLVE is a private-pay provider and does not participate directly with insurance plans. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement for a portion/all of your counseling session fee. Coverage varies by plan, so please confirm your individual benefits directly with your insurance provider, to whom you can submit an itemized in voice which will be provided.
